Another perk of having a remote team is that I can spend time with friends that visit from out of town on a Monday. I can be a Virtual CEO from anywhere!
My friend and his family rented an Airbnb in Downtown Portland. They wanted to hike up from their rental to Pittock Mansion. It was a bit chilly and windy this January Monday morning. But it was sunny and dry, so we were thankful for that. I pushed London up in our Thule stroller/jogger. It was a good exercise up.
From Wikipedia: “The Pittock Mansion is a French Renaissance-style château in the West Hills of Portland, Oregon, USA. The mansion was originally built in 1909 as a private home for London-born Oregonian publisher Henry Pittock and his wife, Georgiana. It is a 46-room estate built of Tenino Sandstone situated on 46 acres (190,000 m2) that is now owned by the city’s Bureau of Parks and Recreation and open for touring.”
Unfortunately, Pittock Mansion is closed for touring in January. Fortunately, the grounds are still open for the public to walk around and offers great panoramic views of Downtown Portland.
In the video, I mention that we would hike up through Washington Park. That would be incorrect. We would actually hike (or walk) uphill through the Portland west hills residential neighborhood. In my next blog/vlog, I will share our descent back down into Downtown Portland through Forest Park’s Wildwood Trail.
